Sony launched the new era of PlayStation Plus in June 2022, combining the previous version with PS Now. Although the latter subscription service was around for a long time, PS Now struggled to get over its early negative reputation, so a revamp was needed to wipe the slate clean. PS Plus has been way more successful and reliable.

PS Plus is split into three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. Essential unlocks PlayStation’s online features, along with providing a couple of free monthly games. Along with Essential’s offerings, Extra grants access to hundreds of PS5 and PS4 games; meanwhile, Premium extends the lineup to include older consoles. Each month, Sony adds a bunch of new PS Plus games to each tier, including first-party PS5 exclusives, third-party juggernauts, PS VR2 games, and indie darlings. Some months are better than others, but they all tend to include a couple of standouts. What are all the monthly games that have been added to PS Plus?

Free Games PS Plus Essential: June 2025

PS Plus Essential’s June 2025 free games are not the most critically beloved, at least the two headline acts; however, the lineup is still overall quite exciting. Alone in the Dark‘s 2024 remake got a fairly mixed response and, consequently, could have flown under the radars of quite a few horror fans who might have struggled to justify investing in the title. With its PS Plus debut, the game is not a fairly risk-free prospect, and it has more than enough scares to warrant a try.

NBA 2K25 is one of the biggest sports games on the market, albeit one that tends to attract a fixed audience. In recent years, PS Plus has grown a habit of incorporating annual sports titles as Essential giveaways during their last few months of relevance, and they are fine-enough additions to most libraries. The best game of June 2025 is arguably Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, a love letter to Jet Set Radio that oozes style and personality. Great visuals blend with fun and relaxing gameplay to create a delightful experience.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape was also made available on May 30, 2025, to PS Plus subscribers.

Formerly known as just PS Plus, Essential is the minimum required to play online multiplayer on the PS5 or PS4. Every month, the tier rotates a couple of new free PS Plus games. While these titles are only available to purchase for roughly a month, anyone who picks them up can continue to play them after that point as long as they have an active subscription.

PS Plus Extra includes a catalog featuring hundreds of games. Extra focuses exclusively on PS5 and PS4 titles, and each month expands the existing library with roughly 10 to 20 new additions. Unlike Essential, PS Plus Extra games are available indefinitely, although some could be removed after spending a few months on the service.

The June 2025 PS Plus Extra games are an eclectic bunch that mostly consist of acquired tastes, along with one major Day One arrival. FBC: Firebreak is by far the month’s biggest freebie, and the game should benefit from being readily available on a subscription platform like PlayStation Plus. Remedy Entertainment is well-established and decorated, but the developer is synonymous with ambitious single-player projects rather than multiplayer releases. As such, FBC is a gamble, even though it is connected to Control​​​​​​. The first-person shooter casts players as agents who are tasked with taking on missions consisting of Hiss-controlled enemies, and it supports three-player co-op. That said, the PS Plus game supports co-op.

June’s other picks are interesting. Battlefield 2042 has an awful reputation, but the game has improved over the years. Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted 2 is a great horror option. theHunter: Call of the Wild is a hunting sim that has been around for a long time, and it can be gripping if somebody is in the right mood. We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie is just timeless fun that captures the magic of the 2005 original. JRPG fans can check out Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes, while Endless Dungeon is an addictive roguelite.

PS Plus Premium includes everything available on Sony’s service. Along with Essential and Extra’s games and benefits, this tier includes a classic catalog of PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP games, along with some PS4 remasters. Premium’s monthly additions have been inconsistent so far, and it is not unusual for a month to go by with barely any classic additions to the tier.

Although most lineups contain only a handful of classics, PS Plus Premium has been steadily enhancing its old-school library, particularly when it comes to PSP and PS1 releases. The games might not all be bona fide masterpieces, but the selection covers both well-known and obscure properties. Since June 2024, Sony has begun to add PS VR2 games to PS Plus Premium.

The June 2025 PS Plus Premium freebie is just Deus Ex: The Conspiracy, which is the PS2 version of the all-time great immersive sim. While not the absolute best way to experience this story, this release is more than adequate.
