- The Darkness Subclasses in Destiny 2 are in need of an additional Super ability, similar to the Light Subclasses in the Forsaken expansion.
- The Strand Supers introduced in the Lightfall expansion were not as unique and revolutionary as players expected, making them disappointing compared to the existing Light Subclass Supers.
- Adding new Darkness Supers, particularly for Titans, could help alleviate the concern that the Titan class is too specialized in melee-based Supers and lacks variety.
Wielding Darkness is still a relatively new concept in the grand scheme of Destiny and Destiny 2’s universe. Destiny 2’s upcoming The Final Shape expansion will bring an end to the long-running Light vs. Dark saga, and this expansion shouldn’t pass out on a golden opportunity to improve the Darkness Subclasses before this conclusion.
Specifically, the existing Darkness Subclasses in Destiny 2 are long overdue for an additional Super. This kind of treatment was given to each of the three Light Subclasses for every character in Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion. Even though most of the content from the Forsaken expansion has been retired to the Destiny content Vault, the new Light Subclass Supers that are still in use have had a lasting impression.
Destiny 2’s Should Add New Stasis and Strand Supers
The Forsaken expansion forever changed Destiny 2 in many ways, and it continues to impact the game despite most of the expansion being no longer available. The expansion’s story continues to linger on throughout Destiny 2’s ongoing current and future events. Meanwhile, the Light Subclass Supers added in this expansion are still considered among some of the best for meta-builds in Destiny 2.
Ever since the Forsaken expansion, the Light Subclasses all have two distinct Super abilities, although it’s recently been revealed that some of them will be getting a third Super very soon. Considering that the new Supers coming in The Final Shape expansion will be adding a third Super to some of the existing Light Subclasses, this especially highlights the need for the Darkness Subclasses to get a second Super, sooner rather than later. A popular rumor in the community is that a third Darkness Subclass will potentially come to Destiny 2 in the near future, or at least that it should, but this shouldn’t mean that the two existing Darkness Subclasses will get left behind.

Destiny 2’s Darkness Supers
Overall, the current Strand Supers for each of the three characters in Destiny 2 aren’t much different from some of the other Super abilities that these characters had access to before Strand was introduced in the Lightfall expansion. In hindsight, this is a big reason why fans didn’t enjoy the Lightfall expansion: it wasn’t as unique and revolutionary as players expected. While the Strand Subclass’ ability to Suspend and its movement capabilities are praiseworthy, the Super abilities are a little disappointing compared to how similar they ended up being to the existing Light Subclass Supers.
Even though the existing Stasis Subclasses in Destiny 2 are relatively popular in the community, especially in high-end PvP activities, the game has a habit of giving Stasis the cold shoulder. Specifically, Destiny 2 frequently encourages players to use other Subclasses instead of Stasis, with incentives like challenges, triumphs, and related rewards. This has been a recurring theme for a long time now, but adding a new Stasis Super to the game could be a perfect chance to kill two birds with one stone.
Titans in particular arguably have it the worst when it comes to what makes the Darkness Subclasses unique from the existing Light Subclasses, which is a bit frustrating. Titan’s Stasis Super and Strand Super are quite powerful, although this doesn’t make up for the fact that they are both essentially roaming-melee Supers. Destiny 2’s Titans are the game’s resident melee class, but many players feel that this class is far too specialized, given that a majority of the Titan Supers are melee-based, so adding new Darkness Supers could alleviate this growing concern.
